MEET SARA

Hi New Friend!

First off, thank you for stopping by and connecting with me! This is me, life long learner, thought work enthusiast, development facilitator, and an advocate for rural areas, the arts, and small business.

Here is a little bit about myself and my career:

Career:  It is hard to believe but it has already been 23 years since I started my career in marketing. Over the years I have enjoyed working for/consulting small businesses in marketing across Nebraska, Colorado and Wyoming. While in consulting what I found I loved the most was training and development of people. After pouring development into myself, I have officially taken on training and development as my career path. I call it my second act career love. I truly love celebrating active change and growth!

Life Long Learner: At 40, after having my second child, I decided to start grad school. I had been thinking over the program for quite some time and finally decided to jump in. I had always felt the pull to training and development.  I loved helping small businesses, but I noticed it was their limiting beliefs about what they could do that always put on the breaks for their success.  This is why I call myself a "Thought work" geek-because your thoughts and actions really DO matter to reaching success. I have my Master's of Professional Studies in human development and executive coaching from Bellevue University. Also, during this time I have taken the ICF certified Wayfinder Coach Train by Martha Beck and am now a certified Martha Beck Wayfinder Coach. Also, becoming a Gallup Strengths coach because I love focusing on what is right with a person.

My Life: I grew up a farm girl, my husband works for research and development for a seed company, we have two cute lil kiddos that keep me busy one small little dogs, one cat, and multiple chickens! I am an avid reader and a big fan of Willa Cather. Working to promote Willa Cather was a big highlight of my career! (Is my nerd showing? :) But, for real, love her work)  We are rural by choice moving back to Nebraska from the Front Range in Colorado over 12 years ago. We both grew up in a small town and love the rural life. I have my undergraduate in Marketing from Bellevue University, and as I mentioned, a master's in human development and executive coaching.

As Always,

Sara Brownwood

Strategic. Connectedness. Maximizer. Achiever. Individualization

More About the CliftonStrengths:

The CliftonStrengths is a powerful online assessment that helps individuals identify, understand and maximize their strengths. Their research indicates that your greatest room for overall personal improvement isn't where you're weakest, but rather where you're strongest. All people have a unique combination of talents, knowledge and skills -- strengths -- that they use in their daily lives to do their work, achieve their goals and interact with others. Gallup has found that when people understand and apply their strengths, the effect on their lives and work is transformational.

My top five and a brief description:

Strategic- I am mindful of patterns and play out alternative scenarios. I works in the pattern of “What if?”, select best course, and strikes forward.

Connectedness- I absolutely believes things happen for a reason and that we are part of something larger.

Maximizer- I focus on strengths as a way to stimulate personal and group excellence. I seek to transform something strong into something superb.

Achiever- I work hard and possess a great deal of stamina. You take immense satisfaction in being busy and productive.

Individualization- I are intrigued with the unique qualities of each person. I have a gift for figuring out how different people can work together productively.
